Contrary to popular belief, chiropractic is not just about neck pain, back pain, or headaches.
Chiropractic is great for pain relief but that is not the primary focus of it. Chiropractic deals with the restoration of health through a properly functioning nervous system. The nervous system is made up of the brain, spinal cord, and a vast network of nerves that runs throughout the body. This system controls the function of everything in our body!
At Lifespring Chiropractic we take a whole body approach. We don’t just treat the symptoms, but rather address the cause of the dysfunction. Chiropractors are unique in that we assess the health of the nervous system to restore balance to the body. We do this by correcting vertebral subluxations aka spinal misalignments. A healthy functioning nervous system results in decreased pain, increased mobility, better mood, increased immune system function, better sleep, and better HEALTH so you can do the things you enjoy doing for years to come! Common cases we see in our office include but are not limited to whiplash injuries, neck pain, back pain, headaches, tingling or numbness, fibromyalgia, seizures, asthma, allergies, digestive disorders, insomnia, depression, and autoimmune disease. We also see people with no symptoms as part of their health routine so that they function better! Dr. Matt sees a chiropractor regularly as part of his own health routine.
Many spinal problems found in adults, are actually problems that began at a young age.
The process of birth itself is often the cause of significant spinal trauma. Spinal traumas commonly occur throughout our development as we take falls, wear heavy backpacks, or even just being in less than ideal posture for an extended period of time. Stressors such as these, along with many others, cause spinal misalignments. Spinal misalignments may or may not result in pain right away, just as a dental cavity may take time before we feel that it is there.
Chiropractors like Dr. Matt are trained with the latest research and examination methods to correct spinal misalignments in children as young as 1-day old. Correction of these misalignments ensure proper nervous system function to allow the child to function at their best. The pressure used to adjust a baby’s spine is the same pressure one would use to touch their own eyelid. It is gentle, safe, and effective.
Over the course of about 9 months of pregnancy, the body goes through tremendous change.
Postural changes to hormonal changes, all to make room for a developing child. The nervous system is the conductor of the function of the entire body. During pregnancy, is one of the most vital times to make sure that the mom and baby both have an optimal functioning nervous system. Chiropractic deals with the health of the nervous system through spinal “adjustments.” It allows both mom and baby to function at their best, as well as keeping mom more comfortable during a time that can be very painful and uncomfortable.
Dr. Matt is trained in the Webster Technique, the gold standard of Chiropractic care during pregnancy. The Webster Technique is a system of analysis used to analyze the sacrum (the bone we sit on) for misalignment or imbalances. The analysis system is focused on restoring proper pelvic balance to allow for the best pregnancy possible.
Whether it is a weekend warrior, or a professional athlete, athletes put a serious demand on their body!
In athletics, fractions of a second or a quarter of an inch can make a drastic difference. Sports Chiropractic ensures that full range of motion is restored to the spinal joints as well as the extremities. Increased range of motion can translate into a farther jump, a faster lap time, increased golf club swing speed, or a deeper squat to name a few. Dr. Matt has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education to become proficient in sports chiropractic. He uses a series of muscle tests to check extremity joint function. This analysis shows if there is a problem in any of the extremities such as the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle, or foot. This is a valuable tool because it can show a problem in any of these joints, even if the joint doesn’t hurt yet. Common sports or extremity cases Dr. Matt sees includes things such as concussion, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, jumper’s knee, general knee pain, sprained ankles, frozen shoulder, general shoulder pain, tennis elbow, and golfer’s elbow.
